How to use

Every overlay comes three ways. Pick your app and the page shows only its steps.

Green screen: key out the green

Every overlay comes as an MP4 on a flat green. Your editor removes that green and leaves the effect.

CapCut

  1. Add the file with Overlay (phone) or drag it onto a track above your clip (desktop).
  2. Select it, open Remove BG, then Chroma key.
  3. Pick the green with the color picker and raise Intensity until the green is gone. Use Shadow to soften the edge.

Alight Motion

  1. Add the file as a layer above your footage.
  2. Open Effects, add Chroma Key, and set the key color to the green.
  3. Raise the tolerance a little if a green edge remains.

Premiere Pro

  1. Put the file on V2, above your footage on V1.
  2. In the Effects panel, search Ultra Key and drag it onto the clip.
  3. In Effect Controls, click the Key Color eyedropper and pick the green.

DaVinci Resolve

  1. Put the file on V2, above your footage.
  2. In the Effects library, open Open FX and drag 3D Keyer onto the clip.
  3. Draw a short line across the green in the viewer to sample it.

After Effects

  1. Drop the file into your comp above your footage.
  2. Apply Effect > Keying > Keylight (1.2).
  3. Click the Screen Colour eyedropper and pick the green.

Black background: Screen blend

Light, glow, sparks and flashes come on pure black. Screen (or Add) keeps the bright parts and drops the black, with soft edges intact.

Dark or gray parts of an effect fade out with Screen. Where that would spoil an effect, its page leaves the black version out.

CapCut

  1. Add the file with Overlay (phone) or on a track above your clip (desktop).
  2. Select it and open Blend.
  3. Choose Screen.

Alight Motion

  1. Add the file as a layer above your footage.
  2. Open Blending & Opacity.
  3. Choose Screen.

Premiere Pro

  1. Put the file on V2.
  2. In Effect Controls, open Opacity.
  3. Set Blend Mode to Screen, or Linear Dodge (Add) for a brighter result.

DaVinci Resolve

  1. Put the file on V2.
  2. In the Inspector, open Composite.
  3. Set Composite Mode to Screen or Add.

After Effects

  1. Drop the file into your comp above your footage.
  2. Press F4 to show the Modes column.
  3. Set the layer Mode to Screen, or Add for a brighter result.

Transparent WebM: drop it on top

The WebM carries real transparency, so there is nothing to key or blend: place it on the track above your footage.

Support for transparent WebM depends on the app and version. The green screen and black versions look the same once keyed or blended.

CapCut

  1. Most phone versions do not open WebM. Use the green screen or black version instead.

Alight Motion

  1. If the import list does not show the file, use the green screen or black version.

Premiere Pro

  1. Recent versions import WebM directly: drag it onto V2.
  2. If yours shows a black background or refuses the file, use the green screen version.

DaVinci Resolve

  1. Drag it onto V2 above your footage.
  2. If the background shows black, use the green screen or black version.

After Effects

  1. After Effects does not import WebM. Use the green screen or black version.

Backgrounds

Backgrounds fill the whole frame. Put them on the bottom track, under your clips and titles. They loop seamlessly: place copies end to end, or use your app’s loop option, for as long as you need.

Transitions and one-shots

A transition goes on the track above the cut between two clips. Each transition page marks the moment the frame is fully covered; put your cut there and the switch is hidden. One-shots (likes, confetti, subscribe) start and end on an empty frame, so they need no trimming.

16:9 or 9:16

Pick 9:16 for Shorts, Reels and TikTok, 16:9 for regular YouTube videos. Both are full HD at 30 fps, so they match your project without scaling.
